The province of Cadiz is one of the most important centres of birdlife in the world in terms of numbers of birds and varieties of species. Throughout the year Cadiz is home to around 400 different species of birds. It is also the province in Andalusia with the largest number of Protected Natural Spaces and has the most habitats in Europe, most of which have been declared SPAs (Special Protection Areas for Birds). bIRDING IN TARIFA
This region borders the north side of the strait and possesses a wide range of habitats where birds can rest, feed and nest. Situated within the main flyway of Western Europe, its geographical characteristics, between two seas and two continents, make the area one of the major world sanctuaries for observing birdlife.
