On the edge of the Sierra del Estrecho, is the Getares cove. Between the mountain and the sea, the beach of fine golden sand extends from the southernmost cliffs, to the gated community of the same name. At the southern end of its banks, the seasonal waters of the river Pícaro meet the sea, sometimes forming small coastal lagoons. Getares is a space where you can enjoy a mountain and marine environment at the same time. In its busiest area, a promenade with shops and restaurants, round out the services at this beach and makes it possible for all types of residents and visitors to enjoy it. Known as "Playa de Getares" because it is the area where the ancient Roman city Caetaria (1st century BC) was possibly located.
