Guadarranque

THE RUINS OF carteia

Average length: 700 m
Swimming conditions: calm waters

Thousands of years ago, from the sand deposits of the river Guadarranque, a plain formed that was used by the Phoenicians to establish the ancient city of Carteia. The beach, located east of the mouth, has a narrow dune system, delimited by the promenade, which occupies almost the entire length of the beach, except for the area where the main accesses are located and which contains most of the services. To get there, take exit 115 of the Mediterranean motorway and continue along Arrabal Industria street until you see the shore.

The ruins of Carteia, still in the same area, form the remains of what is now known as the Archaeological Site of Carteia.
